Extrem'Sud - Guides Gandini Guide Gandini (en anglais) - Moroccan tracks : The Sagho djebel vol. 11
The "Jacques Gandini Roadbooks" are lighter versions of the French " Guides 4x4 J. Gandini" (without the historical or ethnographic boxes present in the French edition): all the itineraries, all the waypoints and their comments are included. Abundantly illustrated, they are printed on strong 170g/m2 paper and bound with a metal spiral for better handling on the trail. They are published in 4 languages: Spanish, English, German and Italian.Jacques Gandini and Hoceine Ahalfi have explored in detail the jebel Sagho, this magnificent wild region of southern Morocco, with its breathtaking landscapes, situated to the east of Warzazat and to the south of the Dades valley, and have put together 59 itineraries totalling 2,500 kilometres and 1,100 The Sagho djebel is the eastern extension of the Anti-Atlas, a volcanic mountain with granitic mamelons, basaltic organs, chaos of black shales, pink sandstones... at the gates of the Sahara. As far as the eye can see, large wild, arid spaces. A desolate land made for the lonely DPM. And for a thousand miles around, silence is the only companion. Absolute plenitude and the desire to take to the track. From flat expanses to rolling hills, from sharp relief to steep canyons: pure, original nature. The character is strong, rustic but the heart is soft. The colours are soft and gentle. Ochre, pink, brown, violet, the colour chart stretches in a gradation of shimmering pastels, sometimes accompanied by an overwhelming heat. Eldorado in the heart of the desert, rare are the oases; modest green spots in the infinitely large, they are the reminders that we are on African soil. The wild charm of the Sagho is due to its exceptional geology: high cliffs and steep peaks, tabular escarpments and deep canyons in the middle of which caravans of camels and mules circulate. When you arrive on these immense plateaus, the lunar horizon is so vast that you want to go everywhere at once to see if it is really as beautiful elsewhere! The Sagho also surprises by the richness of its lights: limpid like those of the nearby Sahara, or sometimes in half-tone, as in the neighbouring Dades valley. The Sagho is also the Morocco of the last Berber nomads, descendants of the ancient lords Aït Atta. In autumn, after leaving the snows of the High Atlas, they set up their dark wool tents on the slopes of the jebel until spring. They can neither read nor write, but they are sure of their way through the Atlas Mountains and the Moroccan desert. In the Sagho, they have built houses of unbaked stone, dug wells, planted almond trees, grown wheat, barley and various vegetables. Others built herds of goats and sheep, and caravans of camels. Most of them are now sedentary, semi-nomadic or nomadic...

Des adresses, des bons plans etc. pour découvrir les îles orkney. Comprising 70 islands, of which just 19 are inhabited, Orkney is extraordinary. The World Heritage Site of Neolithic Orkney harbours many archaeological treasures, including Skara Brae, the most important Stone-Age village in northern Europe, and Maeshowe chambered tomb, whose entrance is aligned with the setting sun on the winter solstice. Here you'll also find the Old Man of Hoy, a spectacular 140m-high sea stack; Scapa Flow, scene of the scuttling of the German fleet in 1919; and dramatic nature reserves with cliffs upon which one in six UK seabirds nests. The deeper you delve - made easy with Bradt's Orkney - the more you uncover. Foodies will be delighted by an astonishing number of local food outlets and family producers, some going back more than 100 years. Discover Scotland's first carbon-neutral island (or that's the plan!), the island whose past may have included sky burials, and the world's shortest scheduled commercial flight (just 60 seconds!) Or why not attend one of the world's leading science festivals or Scotland's sole wine festival? New for this edition are additional mapped walks; greater detail on history; expanded coverage of archaeological developments, the outer isles, new or enhanced visitor attractions including croft tours - all in the UK's top destination for cruise ships and an increasingly popular location for family staycations. With much to enchant archaeology enthusiasts, walkers, cyclists, wildlife watchers, beach lovers and genealogists, Bradt's Orkney is the ideal guide for those who travel with curious minds to discover far-flung places of great cultural, historical and wildlife interest.

Un guide de voyage très bien illustré du nord-est de l'Écosse (en anglais). Des adresses, des bons plans etc. pour découvrir la région. Description de l'éditeur :Smitten by Scotland since childhood, outdoor writer and photographer Rebecca Gibson moved to Moray and started exploring her new home region on foot to produce this new title in Bradt's award-winning series of Slow travel guides to UK regions. Walkers, cyclists, wildlife lovers, families, history and folklore enthusiasts, and foodies are all catered for, with coverage of a wide range of attractions. As the only comprehensive guidebook to North East Scotland in print, it also contains all the practical information you could need to plan and enjoy time in this thrillingly diverse yet largely under-explored part of Britain. This region of mountains and coasts, ancient Caledonian pine forests and salmon-rich rivers harbours much to enthral and surprise. Long famous among hillwalkers, mountaineers and nature lovers, the Cairngorms is the UK's largest National Park and abounds in fairy folklore. Balmoral Estate has been a royal residence since Queen Victoria's reign, while Aberdeenshire has Scotland's highest density of castles and numerous Pictish stones and stone circles among an astounding 30,000 sites of historical and archaeological interest. Between Inverness and Aberdeen lies the less-familiar region of Moray, which hosts the world's most northerly population of bottle-nosed dolphins, Scotland's oldest independent museum and Forres, where Shakespeare's Macbeth met the three witches. Here the Scots language and culture are celebrated through gatherings such as fire festivals. This guidebook's Slow approach to travel fits with a growing ethos of sustainability in this part of Scotland, from Findhorn Ecovillage to a celebration of locally sourced, artisan and organic food alongside the well-known products of Speyside whisky, Aberdeen Angus beef and River Dee salmon. Key heritage attractions are described in intimate detail - but so are opportunities to see some of Scotland's most special wildlife, from pinewood-dwelling crested tits to the largest mainland gannet colony in the country. Whether you are keen to visit castles or indulge in whisky-tastings amid Britain's highest concentration of distilleries, to stroll around sparkling forest lochans or to stride boldly along miles upon miles of coastline, discover North East Scotland with Bradt's unique Slow guide.

Guide de randonnées (en anglais) - Gomera & Tenerife Southern Sunflower
Un petit guide de la Gomera et de Tenerife qui propose des randonnées et quelques itinéraires routiers afin de découvrir cette région. Description de l'éditeur : The go-to Southern Tenerife and La Gomera travel guide for discovering the best walks and car tours. Discover La Gomera and Southern Tenerife on foot with the Sunflower Southern Tenerife and La Gomera travel guide. And on the days when your feet may have had enough, enjoy some spectacular scenery on one of our legendary car tours. This new 9th edition of Southern Tenerife and La Gomera, indispensable for hiking and seeing the islands by car, has been carefully revised on the ground just prior to publication; for instance, it includes a map of the devastating fire damage on the cumbre dorsal in Tenerife. We are pleased to have the collaboration of Jan Kostura on this new edition. He was on Tenerife during the fires and on Gomera subsequently, and he guides on both islands a couple of times a year. Thanks to him the Guergues walk, which was closed to walkers illegally, has been replaced by a new but similar route further north. The book is for those staying on La Gomera or in the south of Tenerife within easy reach of the Gomera ferry. Since the two islands are just a 35-minute ferry ride apart, the book covers walks and tours on both. There are car tours with picnic suggestions ranging all over both islands, with pull-out touring maps and plans for the larger conurbations. Walks are described throughout the whole of La Gomera, while for Tenerife there are walks in the south and west. All walks are illustrated with newly drawn 1:50,000 topographical maps based on OpenStreet mapping. GPS tracks are available for all the walks, and there are satnav coordinates to the starting points. All ‘official’ signposted and waymarked government trails have been highlighted and numbered on the walking maps – a real plus: if a walker comes across a signpost for a route not fully described in Noel’s text, it can still be used as a short- (or long-!)cut. (Note: those going to Tenerife for a long walking holiday, who will be based in the south, should ideally have this book and Landscapes of Tenerife.) Area covered: The book is divided into two parts. The major emphasis is on exploring the whole of La Gomera by car or on foot. But the Tenerife section of the book is also packed with suggestions: there are tours (from Playa de las Américas/Los Cristianos) covering the whole of Tenerife by car, as well as the best walking in Tenerife’s south and west. Whatever your age or ability we’ve got some glorious walks and car tours to ensure you have a memorable holiday in Gomera and southern Tenerife. Guide de randonnée (en anglais) - Vienna Rother
Un bref descriptif de la randonnée avec tous les renseignements importants, une carte en couleurs et une description précise de l'itinéraire pour chaque excursion facilitent le choix et l'orientation sur place. Description de l'éditeur : »Wien ist anders (Vienna is different)« is posted on the signs at the city limits of this metropolis between the Eastern and Western Worlds; indeed, hardly any other European city can offer such a wealth of excursions as the megalopolis on the Danube. The range of recreational regions stretches from the foothills of the Eastern Alps and reaches all the way to the distant Carpathians. The vast majority of the walks described here are located, however, in the immediate environs of the city and lie a relatively short distance away from the centre: in the marshlands of the delightful »Blue Danube«, in the chain of hills making up the Vienna Woods and in the rediscovered walking paradise of the Weinviertel (Wine District). The author – since early childhood well-acquainted with excursions in the Greater Vienna area – has put together a splendid mixture of typical Viennese geniality with nonetheless unforgettable walking routes. Almost every walk includes a stopover at an inn or a »Heurigen (wine tavern)«. In addition, the visitor is presented with some casual rambles in the »City of the Arts« that will bring him closer to the renowned city sights. Great store has been set in selecting starting points and destinations that can be reached by public transport. As a result, this Rother walking guide ideally connects both the visiting stranger as well as the local citizen with the scenic attractions of this wonderful city and its environs.

Guide de voyage (en anglais) - Western Australia Bradt
Un guide tout spécialement dédié à l'ouest australien. Description de l'éditeur : Bradt's Western Australia is the first guidebook focused on the long country roads, inspirational national parks and world-class vineyards of Australia's largest state. Local resident Scott Dareff has visited almost all of the state's 137 administrative areas in the past five years, giving him an extraordinary insight into, and knowledge of, one of the world's great wildernesses. 'Travellers often associate Western Australia with Perth' he says. 'But Perth is just the staging ground for travel to this spectacular state. Much of the magic of Western Australia comes when you venture beyond its capital city. Ningaloo Reef is every bit as astounding as the Great Barrier Reef, but more accessible. . . you can just walk off the beach into the water, and you're in among its reefs. The Burrup Peninsula has rock art that is 50,000 years old, while Margaret River is one of the world's finest wine regions and the nearby Karri Forests contain one of the tallest species of tree in the world.' Bradt's Western Australia capitalises on the area's geography to help travellers create the ultimate Road Trips in spectacular remote locations, without having to rough it or give up air conditioning, ensuite accommodation or restaurant meals. What's more, this is the first major guidebook to stray from the coast to provide in-depth coverage of the West Australian interior. For travellers looking for a unique experience, and 'something different', this book makes the Outback accessible and affordable, busting the myth once and for all that a trip to Western Australia requires a four wheel drive, a month off work, and deep pockets.
Description de l'éditeur : This new, thoroughly updated third edition of Bradt’s Outer Hebrides is the only up-to-date guidebook to focus solely on Scotland’s Western Isles: the islands of Lewis, Harris, St Kilda, Berneray, North Uist, Benbecula, South Uist, Eriskay, Barra and Vatersay. Informed and intimate, this guidebook is ideal for people who travel with curious minds to discover places of great cultural, historical and wildlife interest. The Outer Hebrides is an archipelago of 15 inhabited islands and more than 50 others that are free of human footprint. It is perfect for a staycation where you can get off the beaten track, switching off from the modern world. Huge variations in landscape are found across the islands – from Lewisian gneiss, which dates back almost three billion years, to rugged Harris with its magnificent, almost unbroken sands running down its western flanks, and the undulating flatness and jagged sea lochs of the Uists. Here Gaelic is increasingly spoken (driven both by a strong sense of regional identity but also, unexpectedly, boosted by commitment from many incomers). Ancient monuments abound, from enigmatic 2,000-year-old brochs to Tobha Mor, the earliest Christian site on the Outer Hebrides. Here too are the Standing Stones of Callanish (where a vibrant new visitor centre opens in 2025) and the Uig peninsula (where the ‘Lewis Chessmen’ were uncovered nearly 200 years ago). Nature-lovers can watch stunning seabird colonies, birds of prey, seals and red deer – or become absorbed in the machair, grassy coastal zones that are transformed into glorious carpets of wildflowers in late spring and summer. Walkers have an impressive choice of routes, while cyclists can enjoy the new Hebridean Way cycle trail. Alongside providing all the practical details you could ever need, experienced journalist Mark Rowe contextualises your visit with detailed and enlightening background information – from geography and geology to art and architecture, via extensive coverage of wildlife. New elements of this third edition include advice on camping and campervanning, a round-up of deserted villages and first malt whisky produced on Harris. Whatever floats your boat, Bradt’s Outer Hebrides is your perfect travel companion.
Guide de voyage (en anglais) - Sénégal 2025 Bradt
Des adresses, des bons plans etc. pour découvrir le Sénégal. Description de l'éditeur : This new, thoroughly updated third edition of Bradt’s Senegal continues to offer by far the deepest coverage of any guidebook to this increasingly popular part of West Africa – and is the only one to focus exclusively on the country. With nearly 400 pages of detailed description, it remains the definitive source of tourist information about the region’s most accessible Francophone nation. Senegal’s smorgasbord of landscapes belies its compact size; pleasingly, all can be reached within a day’s travel, making the country perfect for anyone looking to sink their teeth into West Africa for the first time – or the hundredth. Northern desert wilds cede to lush, subtropical Casamance (now benefitting from an historic peace deal), fringed by hundreds of kilometres of pristine beaches. Meanwhile, the fantastically frenetic capital city, Dakar, perches proudly at the African continent’s westernmost point, almost entirely surrounded by ocean. Natural assets aside, Senegal offers numerous man-made delectations. The country’s fashion is among the most dazzling on the African continent, from wide and shiny grand boubous to multi-coloured patchwork baye fall tunics. Dakar’s nightclubs throb well into the morning hours, offering a rare chance to dance yourself silly with superstar musicians on their home turf. Senegal attracts numerous visitors to one of Africa’s most prolific and creative arts scenes, so this guidebook provides a thorough, accessible introduction to its music, art, film and literature. Saint-Louis’ charm is a glorious throwback to 19th-century colonial glamour, while sleepy Île de Gorée is a haunting testament to colonial horror: visitors peer through the door of no return, where thousands destined for the Americas glimpsed Africa for the final time. This new third edition reflects improvements associated with post-COVID revitalisation of tourism. New transport infrastructure makes travel easier than ever. The Petite-Côte boasts an expanded range of activities, restaurants and lodging options. Once-neglected Niokolo-Koba National Park has come under the wing of conservation organisations: a brand new lodge offers comfortable accommodation and privileged wildlife viewing. Thoroughly updated throughout by a resident travel writer, Bradt’s Senegal negal remains the only guidebook ready to take you to all corners of this enchanting land.

Guide de randonnées (en anglais) - Southern Peloponnese Sunflower
Un petit guide de la partie sud du Péloponnèse qui propose des randonnées et quelques itinéraires routiers afin de découvrir cette région. The go-to Southern Peloponnese walking guide for discovering the best walks and car tours. Strap on your boots and discover the southern Peloponnese on foot with the Sunflower southern Peloponnese travel guide. And on the days when your feet may have had enough, enjoy some spectacular scenery on one of our legendary car tours. The Sunflower Southern Peloponnese guide is indispensable for hiking in this region or seeing the region by car. There are hidden landscapes throughout mainland Greece, but the region which packs the most variety into the smallest space is the Peloponnese. From the beaches of Arcadia to the fir forests of Mt Parnon, from the olive groves of Kalamata to the pyramidal peak of Prophet Elijah, from classical Sparta to medieval Mani, this compact semi-island has it all. Though the ancients called it ‘the island of Pelops’, after their mythical king, this three-fingered landmass is joined to the mainland by a narrow isthmus at Corinth. Only in the 19th century was a canal finally cut through the isthmus, but it retains the cultural diversity and spectacular scenery of the mainland. Because there’s so much to discover, the author has drawn an east-west line roughly through the middle of the Peloponnese, and limited the book to the southern half. By good fortune, this contains its highest mountain range (Mt Taygetus), its finest Byzantine chapels and medieval forts (in the Mani), its wildest seascapes (Capes Tainaron and Maleas), its largest forest (Mt Parnon) and, arguably, some of its loveliest beaches (Pylos, Kiparissi and Elafonisos, to name just a few. Whatever your age or ability we’ve got some glorious walks and car tours to ensure you have a memorable holiday in the southern Peloponnese. Key features: 50 long and short walks for all ages and abilities– each walk is graded so you can easily match your ability to the level of walk Topographical walking maps – give you a clear sense of the surrounding terrain with a scale of 1:50 000 Free downloadable gps tracks – for the techies Satnav guidance to walk starts for motorists 5 car tours and fold-out touring map – for easy reference on your tour Strolls to idyllic picnic spots – enjoy our recommendations for where to picnic along the way Timetables for public transport – ideal if you want to link two walks or avoid hiring a car on your holiday Online update service for the latest information
